Composite (white) fillings
White fillings are now the filling material of choice due to main fact that they are very esthetic and blend in with the other teeth seamlessly. We have multiple shade options to match to your teeth. These fillings are bonded (glued) into place.
Amalgam (silver) fillings
Our office offers silver fillings as an alternative to the white fillings. See attached link from the CDA on the safety of this material. These fillings are still endorsed by the Canadian Dental Association as a safe option. In order for a white filling to be glued into place, the area must be completely dry. If high saliva flow is a barrier, silver fillings are often a great option. They are also less cavity prone and accumulate less plaque than white fillings. They are also a great option cost wise if finances are an issue.
